Matt Berry releases insomnia album
MATT BERRY is to release a concept album entitled Music For Insomniacs, which he wrote during a period of sleep deprivation. Released on Acid Jazz Records on May 19, the album comprises of two lengthy songs, Part 1 and 2. A two-minute excerpt of ‘Music For Insomniacs Part 1’ is here:
AMERICAN comedies Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl and the Mindy Project have all been renewed for a second, fourth and third series respectively. The shows, originally on the Fox network, have all aired on E4 in the UK.
LEICESTER comedy club Just The Tonic has upset some of its customers by closing its doors without telling them. Vicki Carruthers tweeted: ‘Have 2 confirmation emails, only to get there to find you are closed! Not happy!’ The club’s website was still listing shows over the weekend, until Chortle contacted owner Darrell Martin, who then removed them. He said the venue would be shut for about to weeks for a refit. Martin previously announced that Just The Tonic would be opening a branch in Birmingham in October 4 last year, to coincide with the city’s comedy festival – but now confessed that would not now be happening as ‘I lost faith in the venue owners’.
ALEX OLIVER, a 20-year-old student of commercial music performance at the University of Westminster triumphed at the Chelmsford heat of the Chortle Student Comedy Award with ALCATEL ONETOUCH and Universal Pictures (UK) last night. Originally from Croydon, Alex says his comedy is: ‘Self-deprecating, rambling, anecdotal.’

BILL BAILEY won the Male On-Screen Talent category at the Royal Television Society West of England Awards last night. His show Bill Bailey's Jungle Hero took home the prize for Specialist Factual, as well as for Special Effects and Graphics.
