After passing out on casino floor

American stand-up George Lopez has been arrested for public intoxication after apparently passing out on a casino floor in Canada.

The 52-year-old comic, who has recently voiced the family animated films The Smurfs 2 and Rio 2, was seen lying on his side with his stomach exposed. The image, taken at Caesars Windsor in Ontario, inevitably ended up on Twitter.

In a statement, Lopez made light of the incident, saying: ‘Tied one on last night. Not feeling great this morning. I was trying to sleep it off, unfortunately, it was on the casino floor.’

Police in Ontario confirmed that their casino enforcement unit took a man into custody at 11.25pm on Thursday and subsequently released him without charges.

Gossip website TMZ say he was put in a 'drunk tank' to sober up though no charges were filed.

Lopez shot to fame from his self-titled sitcom, which ran from 2002 to 2007 and was executive produced by Sandra Bullock. He had performed at the casino earlier in the evening. The venue declined to comment.
