R2 signs comedy stars for Christmas

FRENCH and Saunders, Miranda Hart and Dame Edna Everage are to form part of Radio 2's Christmas line-up. French and Saunders will present host two-hour shows from noon on Christmas Day and Boxing Day; Hart will reunite with Jon Holmes for the afternoon show on December 23; and Dame Edna hosts a Christmas Leftovers show from 10am on Boxing Day. Also Barbara Windsor is to present an hour-long look at pantomime from 10pm on Christmas Day.

BBC FOUR's period sitcom Up The Women has won this year's Royal Television Society craft award for costume design. Sky's Hunderby won the category for make-up design, and Dave's Red Dwarf X the special effects award.

AMERICAN TV executives are planning a spin-off from A How I Met Your Mother called How I Met Your Dad. CBS has announced it is to make a pilot, featuring a whole new cast of characters.

GQ magazine is to host a comedy show at the Hammersmith Apollo featuring Greg Davies, Jennifer Saunders, Russell Howard, Omid Djalili, Lee Mack, Russell Kane, Milton Jones, Russell Peters and more. It will take place on March 10 and be hosted by the magazine's comedy editor and stand-up James Mullinger.

ERIC MORECAMBE's driver, Mike Fountain, is to switch on the Christmas lights in Morecambe on Saturday. He'll also be appearing at the Chortle Comedy Book Festival on Monday to tell the inside story of what it was like to work for Eric between 1969 and the comedian's death in 1984.
