Movie plans for Ronna & Beverly duo
The creators of cult chat show Ronna & Beverly could be about to star in their own movie.
Jamie Denbo and Jessica Chaffin are set to revive Beth and Gina, the characters they played in the summer comedy film The Heat, for a new project now in development.
The as-yet untitled film would be made by Paul Feig, who directed both Bridesmaids and Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy in The Heat He and and his wife Laurie were also executive producers on Ronna & Beverly six-part Sky Atlantic series last year.
He said: 'Jamie and Jessica are two of the funniest people on this planet. They took small roles in The Heat and turned them into characters worthy of their own movie. I can’t wait to unleash Beth and Gina on the world. Run for your lives.'
Their characters Beth and Gina were part of the extended Boston family of McCathy's cop character, who grilled her about personal details
Denbo has also written two films that are in development. She recently sold the pitch Wedding Dance to Universal Pictures; while another, Best Buds, has Natalie Portman attached to star.
Chaffin has a recurring role on FOX’s NEW GIRL and will also be seen on the upcoming season of BBC Two’s Episodes, starring Matt LeBlanc.
Beth and Gina also featured in a series of viral videos to promote The Heat, although their YouTube views number only in the low hundreds:
