Ant and Dec sitcom 'to be piloted'

Comedy developed for ITV

Ant and Dec are reportedly set to make a pilot episode of a sitcom about their lives, to be called This Is Us.

The duo have long been working on ideas for a sitcom, which they believe would given them a 'legacy' that hosting unrepeatable live TV cannot provide.

They have previously considered a silent sitcom, but now are planning to make a studio-based series, which is said to be being piloted for ITV.

The network declined to comment on a report in today's Daily Star, but sources confirmed the duo had a show in development for the channel.

Ant and Dec – who started their TV career as actors on Byker Grove – are believed to play 'heightened versions of themselves' in the new comedy, the usual device used by celebrities in sitcoms.

This Is Us is also the name of the current One Direction movie.
