£2.6m profit for TV comedy-makers

Open Mike turned over £21.7m last year

Open Mike Productions, the TV company that makes shows such as Live At The Apollo and Alan Carr's Chatty Man, made £2.65million profit after tax last year.

The company - set up by Jack Dee and agent Addison Cresswell turned over £21.7 million worth of business for the year ended January 31.

Last year, they turned over less – £18.7 million –but made more post-tax profit, £3.04 million

On its annual report, just filed at Companies House, Open Mike say they were involved in 35 productions over the year 'which is in line with the directors expectations'.

It added: 'The directors are pleased with the growth in turnover this year.'

Other shows made by the company include Stand Up For The Week, The Last Leg and Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow.

In the report, the directors do not recommend paying a dividend to themselves or other shareholders this year. Over the year Open Mike paid just over £3.5million to Off The Kerb, Creswell's comedy agency, to cover production costs and services, plus royalties. It also donated more than £60,000 to charity.
