West blasts Jimmy Kimmel over Radio 1 parody

Jimmy Kimmel says he received a threatening phone call from Kayne West over a comedy sketch which aired on his chat show.

The two became embroiled in a Twitter spat over a parody of the egotistical interview the rapper gave to Radio 1’s Zane Lowe. The spoof involved children reading out a transcript of some of West’s stranger comments.

And on his show last night, Kimmel said that he had received a ‘very angry’ phone call following the scene.

The comic explained to his viewers: ‘He is very angry because of a bit we aired this week,. He gave an interview to the BBC, and we had a kid actor take the words and reenact it. We just had the kid say the stuff Kanye said. And apparently this upset him.’

Kimmel – who said he was baffled as to why West was so angry at the ‘pretty innocuous’ scene – said the musician ordered him to apologise publicly... saying his ‘life would be so much better’ than if he didn’t.

Later Kimmel tweeted: ‘I'll tell you the whole story about @kanyewest tonight on the show - this is not a prank, I promise (unless it's being played on me).’

It was the latest in a series of messages the pair have publicly exchanged, with West, who is dating Kim Kardashian, posting a picture of the comic with the caption ‘No Good Pussy’ and another of Spongebob Squarepants headlined: ‘Jimmy Kimmel Face Motherfucker’.

West also teased Kimmel over his ex, Sarah Silverman, saying she was much funnier than him – and apparently taking her spoof video ‘I’m fucking Matt Damon’ seriously.

Some of West’s tweets, which he posted all in capitals, included:
