Radio 4 Extra orders new stand-up show

Recorded at London's Sabotage night

Radio 4 Extra has commissioned a new stand-up show, to be recorded at a regular London comedy night.

Two hour-long episodes of Sabotage will be recorded this month and next, at the comedy gig of the same name.

The first – to be taped next Friday – features James Acaster, Aisling Bea (pictured), Ben Mellor, Liam Williams and Mike Wozniak. The second will be recorded on October 24.

Sabotage was set up by Mark Talbot, a development producer with production company Hat Trick, in 2006. The nights began in Masonic temple, and now take place in the former music hall, Hoxton Hall.

Talbot, who also hosts the shows, said: ‘I wanted the live nights to be like nothing else in the UK... Hopefully we’ll be able to carry that ethos onto the radio too.’

The shows will go out later this winter, executive produced by Hat Trick's Helen Williams and produced by Anna Silver.

Although primarily a repeats channel, Radio 4 Extra does support new talent with its Newsjack topical show, which invites writers to contribute, and the BBC Radio New Comedy Award, the heats of which are currently being aired on Friday nights.
