TV: It’s the second installment of A Touch of Cloth, Charlie Brooker’s silly cop procedural spoof starring John Hannah. Sky 1, 9pm. Here’s a trailer:
TV: Then turn over to BBC Four to the new Storyville documentary, Richard Pryor: Omit the Logic, billed as the first comprehensive film to be made about the seminal comedian. It chronicles his life from his troubled youth to one of the most respected and controversial comics of the 20th century and features appearances from the likes of Mel Brooks and Robin Williams, as well as rarely seen footage of the comedian at work. LIVE IN LONDON: Straight from her brief appearance at the Edinburgh Fringe, acclaimed US political comic Janeane Garofalo – known for TV appearances on The Larry Sanders show and 24 as well as her stand-up – starts a three-night run at the Soho Theatre.
Wednesday August 28
TV: Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live, the first of two hour-long shows from the Fringe, filmed at the Edinburgh Playhouse and hosted by Adam Hills. BBC Three, 9pm
LIVE IN LONDON Matt Okine and Ronnie Cheng shared the best newcomer prize at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival last year – while Okine was nominated for the same this Edinburgh. They both start a ten-night run at the Soho Theatre today.
Friday August 30
TV: Alan Carr returns to Channel 4 with the 11th series of Chatty Man. It will run for 18 episodes, during which he will clock up a landmark 100th show. Guests confirmed so far for this first episode are Lee Evans, Keeley Hawes and Rizzle Kicks.
