Ducks, football and arse hair

WTF: Weekly Trivia File

A rather short WTF this week. Come on, Fringe comedians, you’re really not trying hard enough...

• ‘I'm not a comedy fan, to be honest. I'm not even a comedian really, just an actor who lost his way.’ John Shuttleworth creator Graham Fellows.

• Kim Kardashian is apparently a massive fan of Absolutely Fabulous, watching the  series while feeding her baby North. She is said to particularly loveJoanna Lumley's character, Patsy.

• Who says TV people don’t understand live comedy? At last week’s Just For Laughs festival in Montreal, Canada’s Comedy Channel were giving away hand-held electric fans – just the thing to cool you down in a hot stand-up venue. Only problem is, they contain LEDs that spells out promotional messages in blue light, which is hardly the epitome of discretion to use while a show’s on.

• A comedy tour being held on the punts around Cambridge is facing an unseen difficulty: quacking ducks. The feathered hecklers drown out comic Hannah Dunleavy, as she delivers her patter, she has complained.

• Talk about a bad gig. Five comics were booked to play a daytime gig for US psychology students... but only two showed up. But that didn’t stop Tino Romero  giving it his alll...

• Needing a hairdryer for his Edinburgh stay, Irish stand-up Jarlath Regan pops into a second-hand shop – only to be told they don’t sell them. ‘Why?’ he asks. ‘Because people might be drying their arse hair them.’

• East Fife FC have offered Daniel Sloss, pictured, a trial to join their squad. The football club made their tongue-in-cheek offer after Doncaster signed One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson. ‘With Louis Tomlinson signing for Doncaster I wonder if @Daniel_Sloss fancies a trial for The Fife this Saturday!’ the club tweeted. Sloss replied: ‘Hahaha, God I’d love to but “beyond shit” doesn’t even come close to describing me as a footballer!’ Still, he has played in the annual comics vs critics football match before now.

• Tweets of the week
Dave Turner (@mrdaveturner): I told my wife it was National Orgasm Day. She faked interest.
Sanjeev Kohli    (@ govindajeggy):  I don't like the term 'cannibal'. I prefer 'humanitarian'
Adam Hess (@adamhess1): When it comes to the whole 'Row vs Wade' debate I think it depends massively on the depth of the water.
