Stella up for Welsh Baftas
RUTH JONES’s Sky series Stella is up for ten Bafta Cymru awards. She is up for best actress and best writer in the Welsh awards; while the show is up for best drama (there is no comedy section). The awards ceremony will take place in Cardiff on September 29.
RUSSELL HOWARD is to record his forthcoming Wonderbox tour for DVD release in his home town of Bristol. His gigs at the city’s Hippodrome on August 15 and 16 next year will be filmed.
AMERICAN comic Bill Burr has added a second date to his London visit: December 8 at the Forum Kentish Town. Tickets went on sale today here
PROMOTION giants Live Nation are launching a club stand-up tour of Sweden with Comedy Central, featuring English-speaking comics. The first showcase will visit Stockholm’s Hamburger Börs for two nights from September 30, before moving on to Trädgårn in Gothenburg for another two. The first comics to feature – on a bill labelled Best Of The Fest – are Adam Buxton, Pat Cahill and Romesh Ranganathan.
CHORTLE has enjoyed a second successive record-breaking month. We attracted 282,500 unique users last month – after breaking the 250,000 visitors barrier for the first time in June. Meanwhile, David Bussell won the £100 prize for the month’s best Correspondents article, for his spoof Edinburgh listings.
