Jim Davidson rebailed
Jim Davidson has been rebailed until October over allegations of sexual offences.
The extension came after the 59-year-old answered police bail today.
His solicitor Henri Brandman said the comedian continued to ‘vigorously deny’ the allegations. ‘Jim has helped the police as fully as possible in their inquiries,’ the lawyer added. ‘He has not, of course, been charged with any offence.’
Davidson was first arrested in January by Metropolitan Police detectives from Operation Yewtree, the inquiry into historical allegations of sexual abuse in the entertainment industry set up in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.
However, the investigation concerning Davidson is not linked to the activities of the former DJ.
A total of 13 people have been arrested under Operation Yewtree. Three have been told they will face no further action, two have been charged and the remainder are on police bail, including Gary Glitter, Freddie Starr and Rolf Harris.
