A tight 5: July 8

IRISH comedian Tara Flynn has been named Satirist Of The Year at the Swift Satire Festival in Trim, Co Meath, staged in honour of Gulliver’s Travels author Jonathan Swift. Flynn attracted some media attention last month after releasing a YouTube sketch parodying a racist B&B, after her African-American husband received abuse in her home town of Kinsale, Co Cork.

SEAN LOCK is to put out a DVD of his current tour Purple Van Man. The show at Hammersmith Apollo on September 28 will be recorded for release by Universal Pictures.

A RERUN of Mrs Brown’s Boys attracted 4.4million viewers to BBC One on Saturday night – more than anything ITV and Channel 4 could muster. The closest was ITV’s celebrity talent show Your Face Sounds Familiar, which had a disappointing audience of 3.4million.

THE LAST LEG is to return on Wednesday nights from July 31, Channel 4 has announced today. Adam Hills and co-hosts Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker will host eight 45-minute episodes, which will go out live.

TROOPS based overseas will be able to hear some of Radio 4’s most popular comedy output after British Forces Broadcasting Services announced a new schedule. BFBS Radio 2 will air programmes including Just A Minute, Sketchorama and The Now Show at 6.30pm UK time on weekdays – the same as Radio 4’s traditional comedy slot – starting today.
