Matt's career gets an Xtra boost

Comic Richardson to front X-Factor spin-off

Comedian Matt Richardson has landed a big break, hosting ITV2 spin-off show The Xtra Factor.

The 21-year-old stand-up – a finalist in the 2010 Chortle Student Comedy Award – will be replacing Olly Murs, who quit to pursue his music career.

He will co-host with Caroline Flack, who returns for her third series of the backstage show.

Richardson said: ‘I cannot describe how excited I am to be joining The Xtra Factor. Working with Caroline and the rest of the team will be an incredible experience and I will do my best to be as good as I possibly can, because I’m never going to be as gorgeous as Olly Murs.’

And Flack said: ‘I really feel that Matt will bring something completely different to the show. He’s a real find, he makes me laugh and it’s great to introduce new talent.’

The X Factor and The Xtra Factor return this autumn.
