Conchords movie 'to be written next year'

Rhys Darby confirms plans

Flight Of The Conchords will start writing their movie next year, star Rhys Darby has confirmed.

Rumours of the film were fuelled last month when Bret McKenzie, one half of the comedy folk duo alongside Jemaine Clement, said casually: ‘We're gonna try and do a movie. We just need a story.

His comments, on the red carpet for The Muppets movie premiere, prompted a denial from American network HBO, which made their TV series.

However, Darby – who plays hapless band manager Murray – has confirmed that it the film is indeed in the pipeline

Speaking on New Zealand radio station George FM, Darby confirmed: ‘I can say in all faith we have connected, recently we've talked, and the boys do want to make one

‘It's just a matter of finding time. I think next year, pen will hit paper. So look at that.’
