Inbetweeners sells 1m
The Inbetweeners sold 40,000 newly-released DVDs on Monday alone – bringing the total sales for the show above the 1million mark.
Both series three and a box set of all three series to date were released this week, and immediately sold 22,822 and 19,623 copies respectively.
But they still has a long way to go to top sales of the series 1 and 2 box set, which has shifted 663,701 units so far. Add in the series' individual sales of more than 200,000 and 110,000, and the total figure exceeds more than 1million.
The third – and probably final – series of the sixth-form comedy attracted a record 3million viewers to E4 when it ended earlier this month. A film is now in the pipeline.
Writers Iain Morris and Damon Beesley said: 'We'd like to thank all the fans of the show. It's incredibly flattering that so many people like the Series enough to want to own it.
'We'd also like to thank everyone who borrowed the DVDs off friends and never gave them back, forcing the original friend to either have an awkward conversation, or just buy another copy.'
The Inbetweeners is currently the best-selling TV DVD on Amazon, behind only Toy Story 3 and Iron Man 2 in the overall charts.
