McIntyre storms DVD charts

Outsold only by Star Trek

Michael McIntyre’s stand-up DVD has stormed to No 2 in the bestseller charts – beaten only by the new £100million version of Star Trek.

His Hello Wembley show was released last Monday and had the biggest advance sales of all the comedy releases this autumn. The tour and the DVD is expected to net him £5million, thanks to the popularity of the BBC One primetime hit Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow.

Last week’s second best-selling stand-up DVD was Lee Evans’s compilation Access All Areas, comprising material that has previously been released. That made No 10 across all DVD sales.

The chart for the top five stand-up discs in this first week of the pre-Christmas sales drive, is as follows – with their placing in the full top 40 across all titles in brackets.

  1. Michael McIntyrre: Hello Wembley (2)
  2. Lee Evans: Access All Arenas (10)
  3. Rhod Gilbert And The Award-Winning Mince Pie (17)
  4. The Mighty Boosh Future Sailors Tour (25)
  5. Jason Manford Live In Manchester (30)
