Lyndhurst to star in Only Fools prequel

Shooting starts Monday

The BBC has confirmed that Nicholas Lyndhurst will be starring in the Only Fools and Horses prequel, as widely expected.

Lyndhurst will play Freddie 'The Frog' Robdal, a friend of Del Trotter’s mum in Sixties Peckham, adding to the series’ in-joke that Rodney was an illegitimate child.

Inbetweeners star James Buckley will play the teenage Del Boy in the series, provisionally titled Sex, Drugs & Rock'n'Chips.

Shooting starts on Monday, with Bad Girls star Kellie Bright and Soldier Soldier’s Shaun Dingwall as Del’s parents Joan and Reg, and Phil Daniels as his granddad.

Writer John Sullivan has said: ‘Sex, Drugs & Rock'n'Chips hurtles us into the rough and unglamorous world of London in 1960 to discover the circumstances that led to Del and Rodney Trotter turning out the way they did.’
