Out of the Park
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are to make two live action films next year.
They will make a high school comedy called My All-American, and another movie called Giant Monsters Attack Japan!, which will feature actors in rubber suits, as in the early Godzilla films.
Parker will direct each film and Stone produce, both will work on the scripts with the writers who came up with the ideas. My All-American was the creation of new writer Jeff Roda, while Giant Monsters was written by Under Siege scribe J.F. Lawton.
Stone, pictured, told Hollywood trade journal Variety: ‘Neither of these movies feel like vehicles for big stars, but this will be our opportunity to find out if there are any actors left who want to work with us.
‘Trey and I are script whores, so we'll be very involved in shaping these projects. We've averaged a movie every five years. We'd like to make more and produce films that give other directors a chance.’
The duo are coming to Edinburgh this week to give a masterclass at the International TV Festival.
