Not a tame Dame
Barry Humphries has punched a paparazzo who was pursuing him through Sydney
Publicist Suzie Howie confirmed that the 72-year-old Dame Edna creator hit freelance photographer Malcolm Ladd outside a cafe where he was dining yesterday.
She told the AP press agency: ‘I can confirm to you that Barry did hit him. He was obviously very upset.
‘But at least he didn't throw a phone,’ she added, referring to Russell Crowe’s incident with a New York hotel receptionist last year.
New South Wales police had not received a complaint about the punch.
Ladd told newspapers in Australia that Humphries’ blow ‘knocked my glasses off’.
He added: ‘It was a good punch - it still hurts. It's the first time I've been attacked and I've photographed just about everyone.’
