Raising the Barr
Roseanne Barr is coming to Britain for just two dates.
Organisers of the Leicester Comedy festival have persuaded the comic to make a rare UK appearance to open next year’s event.
The 52-year-old sitcom star will perform two nights at the city’s De Montfort Hall on February 10 and 11, the first two nights of the ten-day festival.
Leicester is Britain’s longest-established comedy festival, marking its 13th year in 2006, and attracts around 50,000 to almost 200 events.
On US chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, Barr described her stand-up show as ‘going around telling jokes about our country and our people and the world and how screwed up everything is. And I just basically bitch. I’m really good at it.’
And she said of George Bush: ‘I could totally win him in a mind contest. Like if it was like a psychic thing and he was like, okay Rosanne, bring your best powers against my best powers, even though he's like totally world-wide connected, and I'm not so world-wide, I could so totally still win on account of like being female, being a grandmother and like, you know, being intelligent. I could totally win.’
