Vegas named Manchester's favourite comic
Johnny Vegas has been named Greater Manchester’s favourtie comic, ahead of the likes of Peter Kay and Steve Coogan.
And Royal Family creator Caroline Aherne picked up just two per cent of votes in the poll of 2,000 people.
The top ten was
- Johnny Vegas 24 per cent
- Peter Kay 18 per cent
- Dave Spikey 13 per cent
- Steve Coogan 9 per cent
- Victoria Wood 8 per cent
- John Thomson 6 per cent
- Jon Culshaw 4 per cent
- Patrick McGuinness 3 per cent
- Caroline Aherne 2 per cent
- Justin Moorhouse 1 per cent
The survey was conduced by the alcoholic shot drink Sidekick to promote its sponsorship of Thursday-night comedy at the city’s Frog & Bucket venue.
Company brand manager Shah Khan, said: ‘Manchester has always been famous for its comedy talent, many of which started their careers on the stage at the Frog & Bucket.
‘I’m not surprised that Johnny Vegas came top, he’s a highly individual performer and Mancunians love his raw style.’
