Shooting up the ratings

Vic and Bob topple BBC1 drama

The return of Shooting Stars this week has been hailed as ratings hit.

Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer's comedy quiz won more viewers on BBC2 than the drama Outside the Rules did on BBC1.

The show, with guests including Jordan and Goldie, was seen by 4.4million people - 200,000 more than the crime drama, according to unofficial first figures.

It gave BBC2 an 18 per cent share of the audience for the 9.30pm slot.

Author Will Self has replaced team captain Mark Lamarr for this series, and comedian Johnny Vegas will also be a regular.

Future guests will include Neil Hamilton, Paul Daniels and Larry Hagman.
