Netflix signs Tracy Morgan
New stand-up special for 30 Rock star
Netflix has signed 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan to make a new stand-up special.
The news comes just days after the streaming service announced it was to host two new comedy specials from Louis CK, and follows other deals with Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Dave Chappelle and Jerry Seinfeld.
Morgan’s show, Staying Alive will be available globally from May 16.
Recorded at New Jersey’s Count Basie Theatre, it will cover how the comedian’s attitudes to his life and his career changed after narrowly escaping death in the 2014 car crash that claimed the life of fellow comic Jimmy McNair.
The special is said to cover how he learned to walk again, how he fell for his physical therapist and how he came to accept that getting older isn’t such a bad thing.
