Hugh Dennis and David Baddiel make a French travel show

News comes just days after it was announced that Martin Clunes and Neil Morrissey are making a French travel show

Hugh Dennis and David Baddiel are reuniting for a TV series in which they cycle across France.

The Channel 4 show is the second programme to feature two male comedy stars who emerged in the 1990s to travel across France – as Men Behaving Badly’s Martin Clunes and Neil Morrissey are making a similar series for Gold.

Dennis and Baddiel pair first worked together on The Mary Whitehouse Experience in the 1990s when they were in separate double acts – Baddiel with Rob Newman and Dennis with Steve Punt.

Baddiel first broke the news in an Instagram post let week saying: ‘Me and old Mary Whitehouse Experience mate Hugh Dennis are filming a new series together in France.’

And posting a picture of a group of older French men, he added: ;See if you can spot Steve Punt and Rob Newman.’

He spoke more about the project on Lorraine Kelly’s ITV show this morning, telling the host: ‘I love [Hugh] and he asked me to cycle across France for this show for Channel 4.

‘I said "Well, you're a proper cyclist, he's cycled in the Alps, he's done half of the Tour de France. I do not do that, look at me. So I said I'd do it on my e-bike.

‘He's on a big racer with all the gear, I'm basically looking like this on my e-bike and we're cycling across France. I just came back yesterday.’

He added that he didn’t fare too badly with the unfamiliar challenge, explaining: ‘Mainly, my bottom is all right.

‘I didn't know this, because basically I've only ever cycled into town from my house, which is not a long way, the thing that hurts is not your legs but your bum."

Dennis and Baddiel previously took part in a 2012 episode of World's Most Dangerous Roads together in which they drove across Ethiopia, pictured above.

Outnumbered star Dennis took part in the 2007 L'Étape du Tour, cycling an open stage of the Tour de France for amateurs which was held in the mountains two weeks before the main event, and completed it in 11 hours and 7 minutes.
