Japes on a train
Now Show creators Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis have written a new sitcom, set in the carriages of a cross-country rail service.
The Train At Platform 4 starts on Radio 4 later this week, and stars Code 404’s Rosie Cavaliero as train manager Sam and Cuckoo’s Kenneth Collard as first-class steward Gilbert.
Comic Amy Gledhill also has a role as trolley operator Tasha, with Muzlamic’s Ali Shahalom as catering manager Dev.
Punt and Dennis make cameos across the series, with Outnumbered and Mock The Week’s Dennis playing a pensioner in episode one, and Punt as a lawyer.
The first series comprises four episodes and starts on Friday at 11.30am.
The blurb for episode one from programme-makers BBC Studios, says: ‘It’s day one of a new franchise and train manager Sam has high hopes for their maiden voyage, even if the new bosses insist her role is to "enhance the onboard travel experience".
‘But the marketing team's offer of free coffee for ALL customers soon threatens to derail the smooth running of the service. Meanwhile passengers struggle to escape the clutches of the automatic toilets…’
