Serious role for Mock The Wek star

Hugh Dennis is moving into serious drama, starring as a married voyeur in a new Channel 4 programme.

The Outnumbered and Mock The Week star will appear opposite Kate Robbins, the impressionist and  After Life, actress in The Couple Next Door.

Her character is said to ‘take delicious revenge on her peeping tom husband’ after he uses a telescope to spy on neighbour Becka, a  yoga instructor played by Jessica De Gouw.

The show also stars Eleanor Tomlinson, from Stephen Merchant’s Outlaws, as another neighbour, and Outlander’s Sam Heughan as her husband.

The show will launch later this year on Channel 4 in the UK and is a co-production with Starz in North America.

News of Dennis’s involvement was broken by trade website Deadline.

He has previously had dramatic guest roles in - crime dramas Midomer Murders, Agatha Christie's Marple and McDonald & Dodds –  and appeared briefly as a scientist in the Bond movie No Time to Die
