Jeannie Darcy: Selective Startage

Molly Shannon revives her awful stand-up comedian on SNL

Molly Shannon revived her terrible stand-up alter-ego Jeannie Darcy when she guest hosted Saturday Night Live last night.

Shannon created the character when she was an SNL cast member in the late 1990s, but now she has her own Netflix comedy special.

It’s called  Selective Startage, based on her catchphrase ‘Don’t get me started’   and is billed as going out live, both references to Chris Rock’s Selective Outrage.

The mullet-sporting comedian tells her bored audience: ‘Have you you guys heard of this TikTok Tok thing, the only tick tock I hear is my biological clock. Don’t get me started. Don’t even get me started.’

In her second joke she said: ‘I had bra fitting the other day, I tried one on and had a fit. Men must design these things. Has anyone seen a jacket strap with underwire? Am I right lady friends? You get my 411? Do not even think of getting me started.’
