And in a change from the British version, the comedians also had to spot a lie in a series of truths.

The show, hosted by Roy Wood Jr, launched on CNN last night with team captains Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black.

Comedian Robin Thede, creator and star of A Black Lady Sketch Show and journalist, author and political pundit Matt Welch were the guests.

The show is being made by Hat Trick Productions, which has made the BBC original since it started in 1990.

The company previously piloted a US version of the long-running BBC show in 2009 for NBC and another in 2012 for TBS, but neither were picked up for a series.
