The nerve-shattering strains of performing live are exposed in this candid short film shot by Spencer Jones.
It was recorded backstage on the day of his first gig of this year, after months spent at home.
The footage was edited by Ben Lowe who said: ‘Spencer's honesty is remarkable – his filming at home, travelling to the gig and backstage shows how nervous he gets before performing and how a prop comedian prepares very differently to a stand-up.’
Jones talks about having an emotionally tumultuous time at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe, despite being nominated for the main comedy award – and confesses that the thought of retuning to the stage has makes him physically ill.
And he records a track to raise his spirits before returning to work, which he says he is only doing as he has a massive tax bill.
Lowe previously shot behind-the-scenes footage for Micky Flanagan's record-breaking 2017 arena tour that formed the heart of Sky One's Peeping Behind The Curtain which aired last Christmas.
