Greg Davies' new comedy

The BBC has released the trailer for The Cleaner, Greg Davies' new comedy about a man responsible for scrubbing up gruesome crime scenes.

Helena Bonham Carter and David Mitchell also co-star in the dark comedy series, which is expected to start on BBC One early next month.

Inspired by the German series Der Tatortreiniger, the six-part comedy follows Paul ‘Wicky’ Wickstead as he meets the victim’s relatives, employers, neighbours and acquaintances, and occasionally even the murderers themselves. 

The supporting cast also includes Stephanie Cole, Donald Sumpter, Shobu Kapoor, Ruth Madeley, Layton William, Zita Sattar,  Georgie Glen, Bill Skinner and  Esmonde Cole.

Davies - who also adapted the German scripts - has said: 'I'm thrilled that this remarkable collection of actors has agreed to appear next to me on screen. Scrubbing up blood in a hazmat suit in front of them will be a pleasure.'
