Joe Wilkinson seeks the UK's biggest scotch egg
Joe Wilkinson is fronting a new advertising campaign for satnav firm Garmin.
The comic goes on a 14-hour drive to the Scottish highlands in pursuit of the biggest scotch egg in the UK in the four-minute film, The Road Trip.
En route he picks up a man wearing only gold lame hot pants, a knitting pensioner and a scary-looking hitchhiker.
Wilkinson told creative industry website The Drum: 'For some reason, Garmin paid for me and my idiot half brother to visit the UK’s biggest scotch egg. It took us 14 hours to drive there and they filmed the whole trip. Even though the whole thing was a debacle, they still hope that it will encourage people to get out and about more... stranger things have happened?'
Jon Oliver, Garmin UK managing director, added: 'We believe Joe's witty and wry edge will help cut through what at times is seen as a pretty dry and mature market.'
A second video is to be produced later in the year.
