How Frank Skinner knew Bob Monkhouse was nicking his gags

comedyBob Monkhouse’s reputation for being light-fingered when it came to material is well documented.

And it’s a claim Frank Skinner reinforced on the Parenting Hell podcast this week.

Recalling the time he appeared on a panel show with Monkhouse, Skinner said he was told that if one of his gags got a big laugh, it would be followed by a subtle squeaking sound they’d have to remove in the edit.

What could that possibly be? ‘Just Bob writing it down with a felt pen.’
