Own Norman's Conquest
Norman Wisdom’s yacht has come on the market for £1.3million
The comic paid £80,000 for the 94ft Spanish-built Conquest in 1963, and after three years of refitting its value soared to £1.25million - which would be the equivalent of £24million in today’s money.
The boat was one of the first luxury yachts available for private charter in the Mediterranean, fetching around £6,000 a week.
'It was nice, but I got rid of it,' Wisdom said in a 2001 interview 'I'm no sailor’.
She was refitted again in 2011 and boasts three deck spaces – a sundeck, including a U-shape sofa, aft deck, which includes full sized dining table, and and foredeck. Inside, there’s a saloon with armchairs, and sleeping accommodation for nine passengers and four crew.
Luxury yacht broker IYC, which is selling the vessel, says: ‘When she launched she was one of the finest superyachts ever built’
The company adds: ‘Her interior has a modern and light feel, with neutral colours and soft textures layered to create casual sophistication.
‘With a proven charter history, she is the perfect vessel for both personal and commercial use, and her sale is a unique opportunity for lovers of classic yachts.’
