Take a ride on Jasper Carrott
One of his most famous stand-up routines was about the ‘nutter on the bus’.
But now Jasper Carrott has a tram named after him in his Birmingham hometown.
At a ceremony to marl the honour today he said: ‘It means a great deal to me,’ he said as the tram ‘will be here for the rest of my life’.
He added: ‘This is the city where I was born, and I have a great love for the city, that’s why I’ve never moved away. I love the people and I do the best I can to give it the best publicity.
‘We get a rough deal from the rest of the country country - it’s always the dirty. grimy, industrial Birmingham and they don’t realise we have one of the most striving cities in Europe… It’s a great place to live,’
