Ghosts wins a 'happy TV' award

...and another accolade for Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing

Ghosts and Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing were among the winners at the Radio Times Screen Test Awards last night.

The last season of BBC One’s haunted house sitcom won the ‘Happy TV’ accolade, edging out fellow comedy nominees Changing Ends, Inside No. 9, Only Murders in the Building  and Would I Lie to You? (BBC One/iPlayer)

While Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse’s angling show scooped the ‘Stress Buster Award’ aead of the other shortlisted shows Death in Paradise. The Great British Sewing Bee, and The Marlow Murder Club  

Radio Times says the awards are the only ones ‘curated with science’ as they are based on University of Sussex research about the power of television and audio in people’s lives.

Mr Bates vs The Post Office, which picked up both the Empathy Award for Drama and the Watercooler Award, while The Great Post Office Trial podcast also picked up the Trust Award for Audio.

Special recognition awards were also accepted by Sir Michael Palin and GP and health columnist Dr Clare Bailey who collected the Viewers' and Listeners' Friend Award on behalf of Michael Mosley,
