And Harriet Walter as Margaret Thatcher

Here are the first images of Steve Coogan paying heavyweight political interviewer Brian Walden.

It comes from the forthcoming Channel 4 drama Brian and Margaret, about the veteran journalist’s landmark 1989 interview with Margaret Thatcher. The 45-minute showdown became a national talking point and set in train a series of events that ended with Thatcher’s resignation.

Harriet Walter plays Thatcher, in the two-part drama written by James Graham, who has made a career dramatising real-life events in the likes of Dear England, Quiz and The Vote.

Brian and Margaret  is based on political editor Rob Burley’s book Why is This Lying Bastard Lying to Me?: Searching for the Truth on Political TV.

It is made by Coogan’s production Baby Cow and due to air next year.
