Rob Delaney and Aisling Bea help raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer

Ted Lasso star Phil Dunster is to host a  West End comedy and entertainment show to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer.

The actor, who plays  Jamie Tartt in the Apple TV+ sports comedy,  became an ambassador for the charity after his cousin’s four-month-old son Rory died after being diagnosed with cancer.

Earlier this year, Dunster ran the London Marathon and raised more than £15,000 for the charity.

For his showcase at the Victoria Palace Theatre, on Sunday November 24, Dunster will be joined by comedians Rob Delaney, whose own two-and-a-half-year-old son died of brain tumour in 2018,  and Aisling Bea.

Joining them will be Olivier award-nominated Zizi Strallen, who recently starred alongside Phil in Oklahoma! at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

Dunster, whose credits also include Humans and  The Trouble with Maggie Cole, said: ‘Wow wow wow! It is beyond a dream to bring this show together on one of the most iconic stages on the West End. I’ve called upon some lovely friends for an evening of joy, silliness and entertainment.

‘We would love to see as many people come to support the cause as possible. I first learned about Young Lives vs Cancer when Rory, the son of my cousin Matt and his wife Amy, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of brain tumour sometimes found in children.

‘As you could imagine it was devastating, and an incredibly sad and confusing time but within 48 hours of his diagnosis, Matt and Amy had a Young Lives vs Cancer social worker  by their side offering logistical, financial, and emotional support. They were there by their side, all the way through what was the most awful time."

Tickets for An Evening with Phil Dunster & Friends are priced from £23.25 and available here.

Fellow Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed is also hitting the West End this winter, with his alter-ego Mr Swallow presenting his take on A Christmas Carol (ish) at @sohoplace from November 16 to December 31. Tickets went on sale today.
