Brighton competition open to acts going for less than three years

Entries have opened for next year’s Komedia New Comedy Awards, run by the Brighton-based club.

The award is open to comedians who have been gigging regularly for less than three years and have not won any major comedy competitions

Thirty-two entrants will be selected from clips and be invited to perform across four semi-finals in January, with the final on Tuesday February 11.

The prize is a slot at the Comic Boom comedy club at Komedia, and a bottle of ‘fizz’.

Previous winners and finalists include Michael Akadiri, Jack Skipper and Sam Williams as well as 2024 winner Andrew Fox, pictured.

Jill Edwards, of Comic Boom, said: ‘We’re passionate about discovering fresh comedy voices. Our aim is to raise the profiles of exciting new stand-up comics. This competition is always a journey of discovery.’
