Third series for Northern News

Ian Smith and Amy Gledhill's podcast to return

Ian Smith and Amy Gledhill have announced a third series of their comedy podcast Northern News.

The show was nominated for a Chortle Award this year and revolves around the two Northern comics – who both now live in London – scouring the local newspapers to get a taste of home.

Smith said: ‘We’re very lucky that the North of England keeps generating bizarre news content for us to talk about - there's something in the water. There's something in the gravy. Whatever it is, it's making Northerners do daft stuff, and I can't wait to share it with everyone!’

Gledhill added: ‘Chatting about daft stuff from the North is what Ian and I would be doing anyway so I’m delighted someone is recording it and sharing it with the good folk of podcast land. I can’t wait for series 3, there’s just so much northern gold!’

Northern News is produced by Plosive – the team behind podcasts including Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster, Cuddle Club with Lou Sanders and Sara & Cariad’s Weirdos Book Club.

Series 3 will launch on Thursday September 19.
