The funniest Jewish jokes at the Edinburgh Fringe

...according to a new award

The best Jewish jokes at the Edinburgh Fringe have been revealed.

James Regal took the title for his gag: ‘I joined a dating app that’s just for Jews. It’s the only one in the world where it’s compulsory to send a dick pic.’

The hunt was launch by Jewish comedians Philip Simon and Rachel Creeger, who will now hand Regal the grand prize of £18 - chosen because in Jewish tradition the letters of the Hebrew word ‘chai’, meaning life, are equivalent to the number 18.

Four runners-up were also chosen:

Fielding Edlow: ‘I don’t call my mother "mom" because I think the term is earned… I call her by her Hebrew name which is Baruch Atoh Addonnoying.’

Darren Walsh: ‘Did a gig to a Jewish audience, but they all got up and turned their backs on me. It was a standing Oy Vey shun.’

Dave Piontkowski: ‘As a Jew I journal and think "this is good, but is it Anne Frank good?"’

Aaron Levene: ‘There are different kinds of Jews, orange Jews and lemon Jews. But some people find them a bit hasidic."

Regal – whose show LOLyamorous is on at Laughing Horse at Eastside – also wins a trophy which can also double as a kiddush cup.
