Ellen DeGeneres pulls US tour dates
Ellen DeGeneres has abruptly cancelled four of her US stand-up shows.
The comic and former talk show host only began her Ellen’s Last Stand... Up tour last month. But next Wednesday’s gig in Dallas has suddenly been pulled, along with other forthcoming dates in San Francisco, Seattle and Chicago.
Listings on the Ticketmaster website say only ‘unfortunately, the event organiser has had to cancel your event’ and neither DeGeneres’ reps nor tour organisers Live Nation have given further details.
However other dates, including Denver on Monday, San Francisco, Seattle and Chicago are still due to take place.
The comedian’s daytime talk show, Ellen, ended in 2022 amid claims of a toxic work environment in 2020. DeGeneres later said the ‘devastating" bullying accusations had taken its toll on her relationship with her wife of 16 years, Portia de Rossi.
She addresses the controversy in her stand-up show, reportedly joking: ‘Let me catch you up on what’s been going on with me since you last saw me.
‘I got chickens. Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean’ – a claim she later rejects.
And she also quipped: ‘I used to say I don’t care what people say about me. Now I realise I said that during the height of my popularity…’
