Daniel Kitson announces London run of Collaborator

Inspired by his dislike of audience participation

Daniel Kitson has announced a London run of his latest show, Collaborator this summer.

The show – inspired by the comedian and playwright’s dislike of audience participation – will run at The Albany in Deptford from July 15 to August 3.

Venue staff are reconfiguring the auditorium to make place the audience fully in the round, as the play was conceived to be performed.

In the blurb for the show, Kitson said: ‘I dislike audience participation. I think It’s creatively bankrupt, ethically questionable and if I see it mentioned in the blurb for a show, I will not attend due to moral objections and/or personal discomfort.

‘Anyway. I’ve written something about that and it’s got just under 300 parts. So…’

In a mailout to fans the comedian said the show is ‘re-written a bit’ for each particular venue, adding: ‘This will be the 16th staging and something like the 20th rewrite and if i’m honest, it’s actually starting to get really, really good.’

Tickets are priced £12 and available here
