Terry Crews and Tichina Arnol are also reprising their roles as the comic’s parents  Julius and Rochelle – as they announced on Instagram.

Showrunner & executive producer Sanjay Shah said: ‘I wanted this job to get free tickets to a Chris Rock stand up show, but we ended up making something we’re proud of that is true to the original series we all loved.’

Tim Johnson Jr. will play young Chris, with Ozioma Akagha as his sister Tonya, Terrence Little Gardenhigh as brother Drew)and Gunnar Sizemore as Chris' friend Greg.

Any money you contribute will directly fund more reviews, interviews and features – the sort of in-depth coverage that is increasingly difficult to fund from ever-squeezed advertising income, but which we think the UK’s vibrant comedy scene deserves.
