Tom Towelling wins the Musical Comedy Awards

And Anna Hale takes audience prize

Tom Towelling has won this year's Musical Comedy Awards..

The comic, previously half of double act Good Kids, took the title at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London last night.

Anna Hale was named runner-up by judges, and also took home the 'audience favourite' award.

Luke Nixon, performing as geology teacher character Jim Midge, took third place.

The other finalists were: Emily Cairns, Alex Camp, Jay Bennett (as Frank Friendzione), Sang Don Park, Ash Weir, Luc Valvona (as Baron Fortitude), Lila Robirosa, Ben Pollard and Amelia Bayler. 

The final also featured a performance from The Queens of Cups - Erin Holland and Grace O'Keefe - who won the best newcomer prize.

The competition, which is sponsored by WeGotTickets, is now in its 16th year.
