Paddy Young and Dan Tiernan tape their first specials

Milestone for Edinburgh Comedy Award nominees

Chortle Award winner Paddy Young and nominee Dan Tiernan are to record their first stand-up specials later this month.

Both will be taping their Edinburgh best newcomer nominated shows at London’s Up The Creek Comedy Club on March 20  for production label 800 Pound Gorilla.

Young  – named best best newcomer at Monday’s Chortle ceremony – is performing Hungry, Horny, Scared, about him being a Northern Gen Z  boy trying to make it in the big city.

He said 'Dan and I met at one of our first gigs and went through the trenches together, from some of the worst possible gigs, to our first Edinburgh, and beyond. So I can't imagine shooting my first special with anyone else.’

Tiernan’ Going Under  is about being 27, gay and ‘riddled’ with dyspraxia – as well as finally quitting his job as a dinnerlady to go full-time in comedy.

He said ‘So happy about this and to be doing it alongside my boy Paddy Young is something else. Thanks to 800 Pound Gorilla for making it happen.‘

The specials will be directed by Stuart Laws and tickets for the recordings are priced £7 and available here ;
