Ashley Storrie to co-host Midsomer Murders podcast

27 years of deaths in the ‘surprisingly lethal’ countryside

Ashley Storrie is to co-host a new podcast about Midsomer Murders.

The 20 episodes of Midsomer Murders Mayhem, presented by Escape To The Country’s Nicki Chapman, will look into the 27-year history of the ITV show set in the ‘surprisingly lethal’ British countryside.

Programme-makers All3Media say the new podcast will discuss ‘the eternal question of how such a quaint county in England can be host to so many murderers and such a staggering death toll’ – with the likes of cheese and washing machines used as murder weapons.

This will the first podcast to be made by the production company as it bids to monetise the popularity of the show, which is screened in almost 200 countries. It recently launched an interactive novel Can You Survive Misomer? and a casual gaming app Midsomer Murders: Mysteries.

Company executive Rachel Glaister said: ‘The eccentricities of Midsomer Murders, and its hero, Inspector Barnaby to be continue to captivate and amuse audiences around the world.  That global fanbase is keen to engage with all revelations about the show, and we are confident they'll appreciate this new podcast.’

Midsomer Murders Mayhem launches on March 28.
