Richard Herring hosts screening and Q&A with Peter Richardson

The Comic Strip Presents films are to be celebrated at a special event in London next month.

Creator Peter Richardson will be joined by stars Jennifer Saunders and Stephen Mangan in two sessions at Picturehouse Central in Piccadilly Circus, hosted by comic Richard Herring.

The first will be a collection of clips from the 47 instalments of the franchise, which began on the opening night of Channel 4 in 1982 with  Five Go Mad in Dorset, the Enid Blyton parody which starred Adrian Edmondson and Dawn French as well as Saunders and Richardson.

The second is a double-bill screening of 1990 episode  GLC The Carnage Continues – in which left-wing politics is given the Hollywood treatment with Robbie Coltrane playing ‘Charles Bronson’ as London mayor Ken Livingstone – and  2011’s The Hunt for Tony Blair. The film noir parody starred Mangan as the titular Prime Minister  and Saunders as his predecessor Margret Thatcher.

Both screenings on March 23 will be followed by Q&As  and tickets are available here.
