Kevin Daniel crowned Silver Stand-Up winner

Comic takes title at Leicester Comedy Festival

Kevin Daniel was last night crowned winner of this year’s Silver Stand-Up competition at the Leicester Comedy Festival.

The annual contest is open to any comic, established or up-and-coming, over the age of 55.

Daniel – who takes home a £500 prize – said he was ‘so happy and more than a little stunned’ to scoop the title.

He added: ‘It was such a great night. The audience were so lovely and supportive and the other acts were all brilliant, so to win it was a real surprise.’

Daniel has been performing comedy since 2019 and debuts his first hour-long show, What’s the Worst That Can Happen?, at next month's Glasgow Comedy Festival.

The other finalists were Gary Edwards, Georgia Apsion, Johnny Murph, Jurgen Strack, Mark Ahier, Rolan Ghent and Our Trace and the night was hosted by Mrs Barbara Nice.
