John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Meyers are Strike Force Five

American talk-show hosts including John Oliver and Stephen Colbert have launched a podcast to support Hollywood’s striking writers.

The broadcast rivals, who have been off air for four months, joined forces for the Spotify series to raise money for their crew.

Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Meyers are also involved in the project, named  Strike Force Five.  

All of them have been meeting weekly since May to talk about the strikes, which is the inspiration for the new series, launching today with the first of at least 12 episodes. 

The stars will take it in turns to moderate the chats.

• James Corden is to give his first industry interview since leaving the Late Late Show and returning to the UK at the RTS Cambridge Convention next month. He will speak to  Emma Thompson at the two-day event.
